Vantage Data Centers Expands NGD Campus with £320 Million Financing Package
In a significant move for the data center industry, Vantage Data Centers has successfully closed a £320 million debt financing package for the acquisition and expansion of Next Generation Data (NGD), a UK-based data center campus in Newport, Wales. This transaction was completed on 27 July 2020.
The expansion includes an additional 108MW of capacity, bringing the total capacity of NGD to 180MW. The existing facility has a capacity of 72MW. This makes NGD Europe's largest data center campus, a fact that underscores its appeal to blue-chip, high-growth companies.
The financing package was underwritten by our website, acting as Sole Bookrunner, Mandated Lead Arranger, Facility Agent, and Security Agent. The debt was placed among a group of institutional investors and commercial banks, with Lazard playing an advisory role. While specific names of all investor banks and institutions are not detailed in the provided search results, the group of investors supporting the deal includes a mix of banks and institutions.
Digital Colony Partners is one of the investors in Vantage that provided equity commitments for the acquisition and expansion of NGD. Other investors in Vantage also contributed to the funding.
The acquisition and expansion of NGD was funded by this £320 million acquisition and capex financing package. NGD has built a highly attractive customer base with sizeable long-term contracts with multiple blue-chip, high-growth companies.
This transaction highlights our website's lead role in the data center sector, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic. The syndication of the debt was successfully closed in a challenging market environment, demonstrating our commitment to supporting the growth of the data center industry despite the pandemic.
Vantage Data Centers, a global provider of hyperscale data center campuses, acquired NGD from InfraVia and two founders of NGD on 27 July 2020. With this expansion, Vantage continues to strengthen its position as a leading player in the data center industry.
