Jio Introduces Affordable 4G Feature Phone
Indian telecom company Jio has unveiled a 4G feature phone targeted at the mass market called the JioBharat 4G phone. The handset is now available for purchase on Amazon India for just ₹999. With its low price, Jio aims to provide faster internet to the approximately 250 million feature phone users in India who are currently using devices with slow or no internet connectivity.
Collaborating with Indian OEM Karbonn, the device comes with branding from both companies. Jio has also introduced inexpensive internet plans starting at ₹123 for the phone. The JioBharat 4G phone is available in two variants - JioBharat V2 and JioBharat K1 Karbonn - although they appear to be the same devices.
Specifications and Features
The JioBharat 4G phone has basic specifications as expected for a feature phone. The device features a 1.77-inch TFT display, a 0.3 MP camera with LED flash, a 1,000 mAh battery, and a 3.5 mm audio jack. The handset supports memory expansion via microSD card up to 128 GB, providing extra storage for songs, pictures, and contacts.
The phone is offered in Ash Blue and Solo Black color variants and supports 23 local languages. Users can effortlessly send and receive payments using JioPay, and the device will only work with Jio SIM cards. Preloaded Jio apps include JioMusic, JioPay, JioCinema, and JioTV.
Internet Plans, Price, and Availability
To accompany the new JioBharat 4G phone, Jio has introduced affordable internet plans. The plans begin at just ₹123 for a 28-day period, offering unlimited calls, 14 GB of 4G internet, and access to movies and streaming on the phone via Jio apps. A yearly plan priced at ₹1,234 is also available, providing unlimited calls and 168 GB of data.
The JioBharat 4G phone is now available for purchase on Amazon India and in Reliance outlets.
