AI Company Expands Presence: Opening Office in Seoul

Jason Kwon, the Chief Strategy Officer at OpenAI, amplified the organization's dedication to responsibly and extensively disseminating the advantages of AI adoption during a press conference at the Four Seasons Hotel Seoul on May 26.

Kwon also discussed OpenAI's intentions to establish a Seoul office, underscoring South Korea's importance as a market with a substantial number of ChatGPT subscribers willing to pay for the service.

In his Seoul engagements, Kwon has been promoting OpenAI’s endeavors to strengthen its footing in the Asia-Pacific region. Plans include visiting several countries such as Japan, Australia, India, and Singapore to cultivate partnerships and discuss AI infrastructure development, focusing on advancing OpenAI’s Stargate data center initiative. This initiative targets constructing leading-edge compute capacity worldwide and fostering sovereign AI capabilities in partnership with governments.

Among his meetings were discussions with political figures from the Lee Jae-myung campaign, touching on potential collaborations in AI, aligning with South Korea's goals of establishing itself as a prominent AI hub.

Kwon has been balancing Initiatives aimed at fostering OpenAI's presence in Asia, while simultaneously focusing on a broader commitment to artificial intelligence adoption, opening the door for new opportunities in advanced technology with a responsible approach.
