Singapore-based AI startup SixSense secures USD 8.5 million to broaden its horizons, setting sights on Malaysia, Taiwan, and the United States as new markets. The company intends to bolster existing partnerships in AI equipment, as well as channel funding into research for enhancing AI-driven decision-making systems across semiconductor manufacturing facilities worldwide.

AI Company SixSense Secures USD 8.5 Million for Global Semiconductor Growth

In a significant move for the semiconductor industry, deep tech startup SixSense has secured USD 8.5 million in funding. The company, founded by Akanksha Jagwani and Avni Agarwal, offers an AI-powered system designed to identify and predict defects, addressing one of the industry's biggest challenges: turning raw production data into effective real-time operational insights.

SixSense's platform is already in use at major semiconductor manufacturers, including GlobalFoundries and JCET, processing over 100 million chips. The system, which is hardware-agnostic, explainable, and built for engineers, has proven to be a game-changer for these manufacturers. Users have reported up to a 30% faster production cycle, a 1 to 2% improvement in chip yield, and more than 90% reduction in manual inspection efforts.

The platform processes information from defect images and equipment signals to prevent quality issues. By providing early warnings and actionable intelligence on defects and process issues, SixSense enables manufacturers to improve throughput, enhance product quality, and increase usable output from existing production lines.

The funds raised by SixSense will be used to invest in research aimed at enabling connected AI-driven decision-making across entire production lines. The funds will also be used to expand operations into semiconductor manufacturing hubs in Malaysia, Taiwan, and the United States. Additionally, the company plans to strengthen partnerships with AI-focused inspection equipment manufacturers.

The funding for SixSense was led by Peak XV's Surge. Alpha Intelligence Capital, Febe, and other investors also participated in the funding round. With this investment, SixSense is poised to revolutionise the semiconductor industry by reducing the rejection of functional chips, anticipating process drifts before they lead to larger failures, and detecting small, rare, and critical defects that human inspectors may overlook.

In a world where chip factories face a major challenge in spotting early signs of failure before they spiral into costly defects or delays, SixSense's AI-powered solution offers a beacon of hope. The platform's compatibility with inspection equipment from vendors covering over 60 percent of the market further cements its potential to transform the industry.

At the helm of SixSense is Co-founder and CEO Akanksha Jagwani, who, along with her team, is dedicated to making semiconductor manufacturing more efficient, reliable, and sustainable. With this latest funding, SixSense is well on its way to achieving its mission of empowering semiconductor manufacturers to make data-driven decisions that drive growth and profitability.
