Spotify's AI-Powered Playlist Feature Expands Globally
Spotify's AI-driven playlist-mixing feature, first introduced in beta on August 19, 2025, is now available to the majority of its Premium users worldwide, except for some markets in the Asia-Pacific region where it is still being rolled out.
This innovative tool allows users to add and customize seamless transitions between tracks in their playlists, using presets like Fade or Rise and advanced options for volume, EQ, effects, waveforms, and beat-matched transitions. The feature is designed to enhance playlist listening by eliminating awkward silences and improving flow, especially effective for genres like house and techno.
The AI Playlist, a personalized playlist created from offbeat written prompts, was initially launched in the U.K. and Australia in April 2024. Since then, it has gradually rolled out to the U.S., Canada, Ireland, and New Zealand. Now, it is available in nearly 50 markets, including Ghana, Kenya, South Africa, Liberia, Uganda, Zimbabwe in Africa, and Jamaica, Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Dominica, Antigua and Barbuda in the Caribbean.
The expansion of the AI Playlist feature indicates a broader strategy by Spotify to make music discovery more interactive and fun. Users can input prompts involving genres, moods, decades, animals, colors, and even movie characters to create their unique playlists.

The AI Playlist feature is available to Premium users on Android and iOS devices. As it is still in beta, further development and potential wider integration are expected in the future.
