Akamai Appoints James Richmond as ANZ Regional Director
Akamai Technologies has appointed James Richmond as the new Regional Director for Australia and New Zealand (ANZ). Richmond, who has been with the company since 2014, brings a wealth of experience in security and compliance, having previously managed the Financial Services & Public Sector portfolio for the region.
Richmond's promotion comes as Akamai expands its presence in ANZ. The company plans to open a Scrubbing Centre in Auckland to bolster defences against distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks. This new facility will join Akamai's existing core cloud computing sites in Sydney and the upcoming enterprise-scale core in Auckland.
Richmond, based in Melbourne, will report directly to Parimal Pandya, Akamai's SVP, Sales and Managing Director, Asia Pacific & Japan. Pandya commended Richmond's track record and experience, citing his leadership in critical infrastructure and security roles. Richmond holds a Bachelor of Economics and Commerce Management from Monash University and a Diploma in Financial Management from FINSIA.
Richmond's appointment signals Akamai's commitment to strengthening its ANZ operations. The new Scrubbing Centre in Auckland, along with Richmond's leadership, will enhance Akamai's ability to provide robust security and cloud computing services to its ANZ clients.
