Alpha Trains Orders 15 More Siemens Vectron Dual-Mode Locomotives

Alpha Trains has placed an order for 15 more Vectron Dual-Mode locomotives from Siemens Mobility. The exact delivery date remains unspecified. These advanced locomotives are seen as intelligent and sustainable solutions by Vincent Pouyet, CEO of the Locomotives business area at Alpha Trains.

The order is part of the framework agreement signed in July 2024. They will join the existing Alpha Trains fleet of Vectron AC, MS, and Dual-Mode models, supplementing the fleet's capabilities.

Andre Rodenbeck, CEO Rolling Stock at Siemens Mobility, welcomed Alpha Trains' decision to expand their fleet with more Dual-Mode locomotives. These new locomotives, intended for use in Germany and Austria, offer a maximum power output of 2.4 megawatts in electric mode and 2 megawatts in diesel mode. They can reach speeds of up to 160 km/h, ensuring efficient and timely transport services. Additionally, Siemens Mobility will provide maintenance services for the newly ordered Vectron fleet through a service contract with Alpha Trains.

These locomotives, with their high power output and speed capabilities, will serve both Germany and Austria. The service contract with Siemens Mobility ensures reliable upkeep, further bolstering Alpha Trains' commitment to efficient and modern rail transport.
