Artifical Intelligence incorporated Mahabharata narrative in a unique digital format as 'Historyverse' premiere by Collective Media Network.
Historyverse Introduces AI-Generated Microdrama Adaptation of the Mahabharata
Historyverse, a new digital content platform by Collective Media Network, has made a splash in the Indian entertainment industry with its innovative approach to storytelling. The platform, dedicated to mythological, historical, and heritage-led narratives, has debuted with an AI-generated microdrama adaptation of the epic Mahabharata.
Sudeep Lahiri, Head of Channels & Distribution at Collective Media Network, explains that Historyverse brings mythology and history into everyday feeds by adapting how they're told. "We aim to engage younger audiences accustomed to fast-moving, immersive formats," he says.
Each episode of the Mahabharata series on Historyverse lasts between 3 to 4 minutes, making it ideal for mobile-first consumption. These microdramas, as they are called, combine the emotional intensity and story arcs of traditional dramas but are formatted for quick consumption on mobile devices and short-video platforms.
The series has been developed in partnership with devotional wellness brand Pujashree. Vijay Subramaniam, Founder & Group CEO of Collective Artists Network, states that Historyverse is a step towards their vision of bringing stories to life in ways that resonate with today's audience.
Microdramas have gained rapid popularity in India due to their cost-effective, binge-worthy nature and culturally rooted storytelling in regional languages. They are accessible across urban and tier-2 or tier-3 towns, resonating with viewers in small cities like Kanpur, Patna, and Bhubaneswar.
The rise of microdramas is supported by content platforms investing in creator training, talent hunts, and dedicated verticals to scale supply, further embedding microdramas as a mainstream entertainment format rather than a fringe experiment. The microdrama market in India is projected to reach $5 billion within the next five years, reflecting a major shift in digital consumption habits and monetization models.
The Mahabharata series on Historyverse marks a convergence of heritage, technology, and the growing demand for short-form content. Viewers consume these microdramas during commutes or tea breaks, making them an ideal choice for busy audiences. The modular approach to both content and pricing has allowed microdramas to scale rapidly in price-sensitive, high-engagement markets across India.
