Artificial Intelligence Motion Estimation Joins Forces with SynthEyes 2025.5 Camera Solution

SynthEyes, a leading software solution for 3D match-moving and compositing, has unveiled its latest version, SynthEyes 2025.5. This update brings a host of new features designed to streamline workflows, enhance accuracy, and simplify complex tasks.

AI-Powered Tracking with ML Motion Estimation

One of the key advancements in SynthEyes 2025.5 is the introduction of ML Motion Estimation. This AI-driven motion tracking mode uses deep learning for optical flow calculation between frames, making it an invaluable tool for tackling difficult shots. By automating the tracking process on surfaces such as smooth walls or vehicles, and in cases of heavy motion or fast camera movements, it addresses the shortcomings of traditional tracking methods [1][3].

Parent Mesh to Tracker: A Game Changer

The new Parent Mesh to Tracker tool allows users to parent geometry meshes directly to 3D solved tracker points. This feature streamlines tasks like set extensions, layout blocking, and managing complex scenes by ensuring that meshes automatically update their position after each solve [2]. The tool supports iterative workflows and reacts intelligently to changes in scene parameters, significantly reducing the need for manual adjustments.

Improved Masking with Mask ML Mattes

SynthEyes 2025.5 also boasts enhanced AI-assisted masking tools. These improvements refine mattes for better isolation of moving objects during match-moving or roto work, helping to exclude problematic areas such as reflections or moving subjects from tracking calculations, thereby improving auto-track accuracy [1][3].

Hassle-Free Exporting with Lens Workflow Dropdown

Product specialist Christoph Zapletal has explained how the new Lens Workflow dropdown simplifies export processes for better consistency and compatibility across different platforms and compositing pipelines, facilitating smoother integration of tracked data into downstream software [1].

Availability and Pricing

SynthEyes 2025.5 is now available. It's a free update for users on an active SynthEyes subscription or upgrade & support plan. Moreover, it's also included with Boris FX Suite.

Supported Applications

ML Motion Estimation supports export to 3D and compositing applications like 3ds Max, After Effects, Blender, Flame, Fusion/Resolve, Houdini, LightWave, Maya, Nuke, Assimilate Scratch, and Live FX.

Other Enhancements

Other improvements include mask ML refinement controls, automatic video orientation handling, a dedicated LUTs folder, and Blackmagic URSA Cine17K 65 support. Additionally, there's a new feature for Attach Objects Fast through mesh-to-track parenting, and Flexible Lens Workflow Exports have been added for trustworthy results across any platform. The Lens Workflow dropdown now automatically applies lens distortion correction at export.

VFX artist Kalvin Kingdon has demonstrated the new Parent Mesh to Tracker option for quick and efficient work, while auto-tracking inside SynthEyes now gets an AI boost with ML Motion Estimation. With these advancements, SynthEyes 2025.5 is set to revolutionize 3D match-moving and compositing workflows, reducing manual effort, increasing tracking accuracy on difficult shots, enabling more complex scene management, and improving data interchange across pipelines. The AI-driven tools, especially ML motion estimation and Mask ML mattes, help automate and enhance traditionally time-consuming tasks, leading to faster and more reliable match-moving results.
