Asian Championship Victory for GFG Academy's Shooters – 25 Medal Haul
Gun for Glory Shooting Academy Scores Historic Victory at the 16th Asian Shooting Championship
The Gun for Glory Shooting Academy (GFG) has made history at the 16th Asian Shooting Championship held in Almaty, Kazakhstan, by clinching an impressive 25 medals, including five gold, eight silver, and twelve bronze. This triumph surpasses the academy's previous record of 21 medals won during the 14th edition of the Asian Championship.
The success of GFG was supported by Coach Gagan Narang, a former Olympic medallist and a key figure in the academy. The team's victory was marked by three Asian Records and two World Records that were shattered during the competition.
One of the standout performances came from Hrudya Shri Kondur, a Project Leap and Khelo India Athlete, who won gold in the 10m Air Rifle Junior Women Team with a new World & Asian Jr. Women's Record of 1896.2. Another impressive achievement was made by Tanishq Muralidhar Naidu, also a Project Leap and Khelo India Athlete, who won bronze in 25m STD Pistol Junior Men and gold in the 25m STD Pistol Junior Men Team.
Abhinav Shaw, a Khelo India Athlete, had a stellar performance, winning gold in the 10m Air Rifle Junior Men and 10m Air Rifle Junior Men Team, setting a new World & Asian Jr. Men's Team Record of 1890.1. Naraen Pranav, another Project Leap and Khelo India Athlete, also made a significant impact, winning gold in the 10m Air Rifle Junior Men Team with a new World & Asian Jr. Men's Team Record of 1890.1 and gold in the 10m Air Rifle Junior Mixed Team.
The junior women team was also a force to reckon with, with Prachi Gaikwad, another Project Leap and Khelo India Athlete, winning gold in the 50m Rifle 3P Junior Women Team, silver in the 50m Prone Junior Women, and bronze in the 50m Prone Junior Women Team. Anushka Thokur, another member of the team, won gold in the 50m Rifle 3P Junior Women, gold in the 50m Rifle 3P Junior Women Team, and bronze in the 50m Prone Junior Women Team.
Vedant Waghmare, another Khelo India Athlete, had a successful campaign, winning gold in the 10m Air Rifle Youth Men, 10m Air Rifle Youth Men Team, 50m Rifle 3P Junior Men Team, and bronze in the 50m Rifle 3P Junior Men. Mukesh Nelavalli, a Khelo India Athlete, also made a significant contribution, winning gold in the 25m STD Pistol Junior Men Team and 50m Pistol Junior Men Team.
Elavenil Valarivan, a TOPS Core Athlete, also had a commendable performance, winning gold in the 10m Air Rifle Women, bronze in the 10m Air Rifle Women Team, and gold in the 10m Air Rifle Mixed Team. Rudrankksh Balasaheb Patil, another TOPS Core Athlete, won gold in the 10m Air Rifle Men Team. Lastly, Girish Gupta, a Khelo India Athlete, won gold in the 10m Air Pistol Youth Men and silver in the 10m Air Pistol Youth Men Team.
