Audio-Visual and Athletic Realms Merge through Resonant Sound Experience
EDGE Sound Research Revolutionizes Audio Experience at Pro Sports Venues
EDGE Sound Research, a pioneering company in pro audio technology, recently performed a high-profile audio installation at the VIP experience at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas. The installation was made possible by EDGE Sound Research's patented Embodied Sound technology and LEA Professional's amplifiers.
Embodied Sound is a software-defined hardware system that transforms everyday surfaces into full-frequency sound emitters. By calibrating vibrations to the physical properties of each surface, it delivers synchronized tactile and acoustic audio from a single source without traditional loudspeakers. This creates a multi-modal, immersive, precise, and spatially customizable sound experience suitable for diverse environments, including pro sports venues.
The Virtual Sound Engine (VSE), EDGE Sound Research's AI-driven object-based audio processing technology, is a key component in this innovative setup. VSE isolates and enhances specific sounds during live events, such as ball bounce, shoe squeaks, or player voices, enabling clear, separate audio feeds rather than a generic mixed soundtrack. This isolation enriches in-stadium and broadcast audio by offering clean, distinct sound elements tied to the live action on the field or court.
The combination of Embodied Sound technology and LEA Professional's amplifiers enhances the pro sports experience by delivering rich, localized sound through unconventional surfaces. This audio infrastructure creates a more engaging and immersive atmosphere by integrating natural materials into the sound system, allowing fans to feel the game’s intensity and subtleties more directly and vividly than through traditional loudspeakers.
The LEA Connect Series 354 amplifier, part of the Network Connect Series, the world's first IoT-enabled professional-grade amplifiers, was used by EDGE Sound Research in the installation at the Thomas & Mack Center. This four-channel amplifier with 350 watts per channel provides the power and fidelity needed for effective tactile and acoustic sound reproduction.
LEA Professional's SharkWare and Cloud solutions also played a crucial role in the installation, providing EDGE Sound Research with all the control they needed for both deployment and remote monitoring.
Valtteri Salomaki and Ethan Castro, the founders of EDGE Sound Research, expressed their admiration for LEA Professional's amplifiers, praising their power requirements, channel counts, and super-efficient architecture. Castro, who was born with conditions that would eventually leave him hard of hearing at a young age, relied on how the audio felt rather than how it sounded and would hug his father's loudspeakers to feel every vibration. His research focuses on combining hearing and feeling to create a new form of audio reproduction.
EDGE Sound Research plans to utilize more capabilities of LEA Professional to build out personally curated experiences in the future. This partnership is set to revolutionize the audio experience in pro sports, far beyond conventional speaker systems.
