Audi's New Entry-Level EV: A2 e-tron Coming in 2026
Audi is expanding its electric lineup with an entry-level model below the Q4 e-tron. The new car, named the Audi A2 e-tron, was announced by former CEO Markus Duesmann and confirmed by current CEO Gernot Döllner in 2023.
The A2 e-tron will be based on the modified MEB+ platform, utilizing 400-volt technology and cell-to-pack battery systems with LFP cells. It will offer rapid charging capabilities of around 175 to 200 kW.
The model's design pays homage to the original A2 and the Audi AI:ME study. It will feature a long wheelbase with short front and rear overhangs, a high front with slit-shaped LED headlights, and a closed grille. The roof will be coupe-shaped, and the rear will have a spoiler.
The A2 e-tron is expected to offer a range of between about 480 and over 640 kilometers, depending on battery size. Production of this new small electric Audi is set to begin in Ingolstadt in 2026.
The Audi A2 e-tron, with its innovative technology and retro-inspired design, is set to be a compelling addition to the electric vehicle market. Its production in Ingolstadt from 2026 will further strengthen Audi's commitment to electric mobility.
