Bell and Cohere Unveil Secure, Sovereign AI Ecosystem for Canadian Businesses and Governments

Bell Canada and AI company Cohere have announced a partnership to deliver enterprise-grade AI solutions within Canada, focusing on the needs of government and business clients. The collaboration centres around Bell's AI Fabric Network, a project aimed at addressing the AI requirements of Canadian businesses and governments.

The partnership offers a turnkey, full-stack AI solution that encompasses hardware, software, and professional services. The software infrastructure of the AI Fabric Network includes Cohere's advanced Large Language Models (LLMs), machine learning, and cloud software. The hardware component consists of six AI data centers, which form part of Canada's largest sovereign AI data centers, operating on the national fibre network.

Bell's AI Fabric Network also provides customized AI applications and models explicitly designed to support Canadian government and enterprise workflows while maintaining full data sovereignty. Cohere's North AI agent platform, integrated into the AI Fabric Network, empowers users to automate tasks and enhance productivity.

The partnership addresses AI needs by offering strong cybersecurity and operational resilience, combining physical, network, and software protections. The AI Fabric Network is supported by state-of-the-art cybersecurity protections, ensuring that all data remains securely within Canada to meet sovereignty, compliance, and security requirements.

By eliminating the need for these entities to manage AI infrastructure, the integration simplifies AI adoption for Canadian organizations, providing a trusted domestic AI solution provider. The collaboration supports diverse industry use cases, including public sector compliance and business intelligence applications through platforms like Compass and North.

The Montreal-based telecommunications company, Bell, is using its new technology services brand Ateko as the foundation for its ambition to build a billion-dollar technology services company. The AI Fabric Network, unveiled by Bell in May, will offer Cohere's AI services through its network, making them accessible to governments and enterprises.

In summary, through this partnership, Bell and Cohere deliver a secure, sovereign AI ecosystem tailored to Canadian government and enterprise customers, combining Cohere’s cutting-edge AI software—LLMs and agentic AI—with Bell’s secure infrastructure and technology services, thus addressing critical needs around data sovereignty, security, and AI operationalization in sensitive environments.

This partnership will provide a turnkey, full-stack AI solution that utilizes Cohere's advanced Large Language Models (LLMs) and machine learning, as part of the secure AI Fabric Network operated by Bell Canada. The hardware component consists of six AI data centers, which form part of Canada's largest sovereign AI data centers, backed by state-of-the-art cybersecurity protections to ensure data remains within the country. Furthermore, the collaboration offers customized AI applications and models designed to support Canadian government and enterprise workflows while maintaining data sovereignty. The software infrastructure also includes Cohere's North AI agent platform, empowering users to automate tasks and boost productivity with French artificial intelligence technologies.
