Blink Charging UK Unveils EQ 200: A Game-Changing Bi-Directional EV Charger
Blink Charging UK has introduced the EQ 200, a bi-directional, grid-ready electric vehicle (EV) charger for the UK and Ireland. This innovation, developed in collaboration with Mercedes-Benz, is set to revolutionize the EV charging landscape.
The EQ 200 is a Level 2 AC charger with a maximum output of 22kW. It is certified to ISO15118 and MID standards. Notably, it features Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Ethernet, and 2G/4G connectivity for smart energy management. This charger can interact with smart energy systems, as highlighted by Alex Calnan, Managing Director of Blink Charging UK.
The EQ 200 is a vehicle-to-grid (V2G) charger, enabling energy exchange between EVs and the grid. It can draw energy from an EV's battery to power devices, charge other EVs, or feed back into the grid. This capability is seen as a response to increasing EV adoption in the UK by Miko de Haan, President of Blink Charging Europe.
Blink Charging has established partnerships with various locations to facilitate EV adoption. The company has deployed nearly 78,000 charging ports worldwide, many of which are networked EV charging stations. In the UK alone, Blink Charging UK has over 2000 chargers serving various sectors and plans further expansion.
The EQ 200, a product of Blink Charging UK's collaboration with Mercedes-Benz, is poised to enhance the UK and Ireland's EV charging infrastructure. With its smart energy management features and bi-directional capabilities, it is expected to support the growing EV market and contribute to a more sustainable energy future.
