California Launches $2M Creative Growth Scholarship for Sacramento Artists
The California state government has launched a new initiative to support artists in Sacramento County. The Creative Growth Scholarship Program, which began in September 2025, aims to provide financial stability to professionals in various artistic disciplines. Successful applicants will receive a monthly stipend of $850 for a year, totalling $10,200.
The program, funded with a total budget of $2.04 million, will run until August 2026. It is open to residents of Sacramento County aged 18 and above, who must provide proof of residence issued no more than 60 days prior to application. Applicants must also be actively engaged in one of the admitted artistic disciplines, which include music, dance, theater, cinema, literature, design, visual arts, crafts, and others.
Artists have the freedom to use the funds as they see fit, with no specific requirements on how the money should be spent. The application deadline was June 20, 2025, and applicants can expect a response via email or text message. The U.S. will deposit over $10,000 to those who meet the specified requirements.
