In the remote and disaster-prone region of Kamchatka Krai, a backup call processing centre for the 112 emergency system has been established to ensure uninterrupted emergency response communication services. The centre, located in a separate municipality, was created at the instructions of the regional governor, Sergei Lebedev.

The importance of this backup centre was recently highlighted during an internet cable break incident on the Kamchatka peninsula. Despite the major communication disruptions, the 112 system continued to function without failures, demonstrating the effectiveness of the backup centre in maintaining the service in challenging conditions.

The backup centre fully duplicates the workplaces of operators and operates independently of the main site's communication infrastructure. This significant advantage means that emergency calls are still processed and routed properly, even in emergency situations, reducing the risk of communication blackouts that could jeopardize public safety.
