Can Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater be played on different platforms simultaneously?
The highly-anticipated remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater is set to bring back the popular Fox Hunt multiplayer mode, but with a twist. Konami has confirmed that the new online mode will not support crossplay between PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC players.
Fox Hunt, a unique hide-and-seek style gameplay mode, is scheduled for release in Fall 2025, according to Konami's official website. The launch date for Fox Hunt is yet to be confirmed, but it is expected to fall between September and November of next year. It's worth noting that the launch date for Fox Hunt is not the same as the base game's release, which is set for August 28.
The original Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, the earliest game in the Metal Gear timeline, is renowned as one of the best PS2 games of all time. The main draw of the game remains its epic stealth-action single player campaign.
While Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater will be available on multiple platforms, the multiplayer mode will not allow players on different platforms to play together. This is a departure from the last Metal Gear game released, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, which did not have crossplay support in 2015.
Despite the lack of crossplay, the unique gameplay of Fox Hunt, which garnered a cult following in the original Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, is expected to draw in players once again. The remake of the game is set to release for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, with no statements yet from Konami regarding cross-platform support for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater.
