Cannes Embracing Crypto: Blockchain & Digital Payments Boost Tourism
Cannes, the glamorous French Riviera city, is set to become a trailblazer in the digital age. It's integrating blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies into local commerce, aiming to differentiate itself as a tourist destination.
The city is hosting a series of events to facilitate this transition. On February 4, 2025, a training session will educate local merchants about using cryptocurrencies in business. This will cover technical, legal, accounting, and tax aspects, ensuring merchants are well-equipped to embrace this new form of payment.
From October 16 to 17, 2025, Cannes will hold a cryptocurrency training event for digital transformation. Meanwhile, the city is positioning itself as a pioneer, empowering its merchants to accept crypto payments to attract a global clientele and boost its local economy.
To promote these crypto-friendly businesses, digital marketing campaigns and social media efforts are underway. Additionally, the city is creating maps and guides to highlight these establishments, especially during major events like the Ethereum Community Conference (EthCC). This conference, taking place between June 30 and July 3, 2025, is expected to attract over 6,000 accredited participants and 9,000 attendees.
By embracing cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology, Cannes seeks to maintain its competitiveness and become a model for other cities. It aims to thrive in the digital world, innovating and attracting a new wave of visitors and businesses.
