Car Manufacturer Polestar Makes Debut in France

Polestar, the premium electric vehicle (EV) brand, has officially entered the French market, marking its 28th global market across four continents. This expansion into Europe's premium EV market comes after a pause in market expansion and a delayed French debut due to a logo dispute with Stellantis-owned PSA, which was resolved in 2022.

The French launch is just the beginning for Polestar in Europe. The brand plans to expand its manufacturing footprint in Central Europe by producing the upcoming Polestar 7 premium compact SUV at a new Volvo Cars factory in Kosice, Slovakia. Production is scheduled to start in early 2027, with the vehicle launch planned for 2028. This expansion is part of Polestar’s strategy to diversify contract manufacturing and strengthen its position in the European market by leveraging shared platforms and technology with Volvo Cars.

Regarding Latin America, there are no specific details in the current sources about Polestar’s expansion plans in that region.

As for the global rollout of new models, Polestar is progressing with the launch of new vehicles alongside the Polestar 7. The Polestar 5 four-door GT is expected in 2025, and the Polestar 6 roadster is currently in development. The Polestar 7’s European production start in 2027 suggests a phased restart or continuation of the global rollout aligned with these model launches.

In France, Polestar is betting on its premium design, direct-to-consumer model, and strong European brand identity to set it apart. The brand will begin with a retail presence in Le Mans in July, followed by up to ten additional cities by year-end. Polestar is offering its full lineup (Polestar 2, 3, and 4) in France, with prices starting at €46,800.

Customers can purchase Polestar vehicles online or through retail partners leveraging Volvo Cars' existing network in France. From launch, Polestar drivers in France will have access to over 100 Volvo service points nationwide.

Polestar has identified France as one of its top three European markets, alongside the UK and Sweden. The brand is prioritizing more profitable and receptive markets, particularly in Europe.

In Canada, Polestar is offering a large $25,000 discount on the Polestar 3 SUV for customers who pay cash or arrange their own financing.

Europe currently accounts for 75% of Polestar's global sales. Polestar plans to reignite its expansion efforts in 2026, with Central Europe and Latin America in its sights. However, the brand has not mentioned any plans for referral incentives for buying a Tesla or using a referral link for Full Self-Driving (FSD).
