Chile Aims for 2050 Carbon Neutrality with Wind, Solar Power

Chile aims for carbon neutrality by 2050, harnessing wind and solar power. However, remote regions face grid congestion and supply imbalances. Meanwhile, ResponsAbility, a global impact asset manager, has boosted sustainable fruit processing in Vietnam and invested in a major Chilean wind farm project.

ResponsAbility's $56 million commitment to the Cancura wind farm in Chile is its first climate infrastructure investment in Latin America. The project is set to generate around 20% of the country's wind market output and prevent over 46,000 tons of CO2 emissions annually. The World Bank also supported sustainable fruit processing in Vietnam, providing over one million euros to an agricultural enterprise. ResponsAbility, managing $5.4 billion in assets, has boosted Nafoods Group's sustainable fruit processing capacity as part of its climate-smart agriculture strategy. Other international lenders backing the Cancura project include CIFI, Triodos, and BICSA. Nafoods Group operates across the entire fruit value chain, collaborating with local smallholder farmers.

ResponsAbility's investments in Chile and Vietnam demonstrate its commitment to climate finance and sustainable food. These projects contribute to carbon neutrality goals while supporting local economies and communities.
