China Literature Harnesses AI for Manga Adaptations and Writer's Assistant

China Literature, a leading online literature platform, is harnessing AI to adapt novels into manga and streamline production processes. The company aims to enhance its Yuewen Miaobi model and integrate it into creative and intellectual property ecosystems. CEO Xiaonan Hou envisions AI as an assistive tool for writers, not a replacement.

China Literature's Yuewen Miaobi, launched on July 19, 2023, is set to evolve into a multimodal LLM. The company plans to roll out more features later this year or in 2024 following internal testing. Writer's Assistant Miaobi, an AI tool, can generate character names, appearances, personalities, and literary context based on writer's inputs. It can also create detailed text passages for combat scenes in fantasy novels, simplifying complex production processes.

However, AI tools currently lack the creativity that human writers possess. Xiaonan Hou, CEO of China Literature, compares the impact of AI on writers to the transition from manual to assisted driving. He believes AI won't replace writers but rather assist them, much like how AIGC is transforming the creative industry.

China Literature's AI-driven manga adaptations and Writer's Assistant Miaobi aim to simplify production processes and enhance creativity. While AI lacks human creativity, it serves as a valuable tool for writers. The company expects to introduce more features for Yuewen Miaobi later this year or in 2024, following internal testing.
