Collaboration Initiated for Progression of Deep-Sea Monopile Technology Along the British Coastline
In a significant development for the offshore wind industry, Dutch engineering firm Boskalis has partnered with Entrion Wind and Global Maritime to further develop the Fully Restrained Platform (FRP) monopile foundation technology in UK waters.
Entrion Wind's Top Mooring Assembly (TMA) monopile technology, which has received a formal Statement of Feasibility from DNV, is at the heart of this collaboration. The TMA monopile technology is a notable development in the offshore wind industry, designed to accelerate deployment by extending the use of monopile foundations into water depths of up to 100 metres.
The partnership aligns with Entrion Wind's strategic focus on the UK market and is a step towards delivering their first demonstration project in the region. Entrion Wind's president, Eivind Johnsen, stated that this partnership is an important step towards that goal.
Global Maritime will provide transportation and installation (T&I) engineering services throughout the lifecycle of the project. The partnership also includes the development of a generic T&I framework for the FRP technology.
