Comcast Outage Knocks Alexandria, Virginia, Offline for 11 Hours
Residents of Alexandria, Virginia, faced a day-long disruption of internet, television, and phone services on Thursday, with Comcast's Xfinity services being the most affected. The outage, which started around 8 a.m., impacted neighborhoods such as Seminary Hill, Taylor Run, Eisenhower West, and areas near the Potomac River.
The cause of the outage was traced back to a third-party truck striking fiber lines at the intersection of North Quaker Lane and Janney's Lane. Comcast promptly notified affected customers and provided estimated restoration times. Initially, services were expected to be restored by 11:10 a.m., but this was later extended to 4:05 p.m. Despite the delay, Comcast managed to fully restore services by 7:21 p.m. Residents are advised to contact the Alexandria Police Department or Xfinity Customer Service for further information or assistance.
The outage, which lasted for over 11 hours, has now been resolved. Comcast's quick response and regular updates helped customers stay informed throughout the disruption. Residents can now resume their usual internet, television, and phone services.
