Compact Electric Vehicle with Sports Performance: Skoda's Elroq RS
Škoda has unveiled its latest offering, the Elroq RS, an all-electric compact SUV that promises to deliver a thrilling driving experience while maintaining practicality.
Powertrain and Performance
The Elroq RS is equipped with a powerful dual-electric motor setup, delivering a combined peak power of 250 kW (340 hp / 335 bhp). This potent powertrain provides a total torque of 679 Nm (501 lb-ft), ensuring swift acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h (0 to 62 mph) in just 5.4 seconds. The vehicle boasts an all-wheel drive system and a top speed of 180 km/h (112 mph). To enhance handling dynamics, the sports-tuned chassis features a lowered suspension by 10mm front and 15mm rear, along with DCC dampers offering 15 stages of adjustment.
Battery and Range
The Elroq RS is equipped with a battery capacity of 84 kWh gross and 79 kWh net. This battery pack enables the vehicle to achieve a WLTP-rated range of up to 550 km (342 miles). The energy consumption of the Elroq RS is approximately 14.4 kWh/100 km (WLTP). The battery employs a nominal voltage of 350 V and NMC cathode chemistry.
Charging
The Elroq RS supports fast charging, with a maximum DC fast charging rate of 185 kW. The charge port compatibility varies by region, catering to CCS2 for Europe, CCS1 for North America, GBT for China, CHAdeMO for Japan, and CCS2 for Oceania.
Other Notable Features
The RS model represents a sportier, performance-oriented variant, inspired by Škoda’s rally heritage. It targets a niche market within the Elroq lineup, expected to account for about 5% of total Elroq sales. The Elroq RS is adorned with dynamic chassis control, LED matrix headlights, and black sports trim, setting it apart from other models in the lineup.
The Elroq RS is the second electric model in Škoda's Czech lineup, following the successful launch of the Enyaq. The vehicle shares many qualities with the Enyaq, including a refined interior, successful soundproofing, impressive handling, and suspension. The new design language for Škoda is called "Modern Solid".
The entry-level model of the Elroq RS offers a power output of 170 hp, while the more powerful version boasts 204 hp. The top model delivers an impressive 286 hp. The dimensions of the Elroq RS are 4,488 x 1,884 x 1,654 mm, with a wheelbase of 2,765 mm.
