Comprehensive Guide on Electric Vehicle Infotainment Systems: Nearly all essential information you require about in-vehicle entertainment and communication for electric vehicles
The Swedish electric vehicle brand, Polestar, has unveiled an impressive in-car entertainment system across its lineup, offering a seamless blend of technology and functionality.
At the heart of the system is the center display, varying in size across models. The Polestar 3 boasts a 9-inch display, while the Polestar 4 upgrades to a 15.4-inch, frameless centre display with a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels and a landscape orientation. The Polestar 4 also features a 10.2-inch display.
The system is designed to be intuitive, making it easy for drivers to use apps and manage car functions. It also remembers the settings and preferences of up to six drivers, ensuring a personalised experience for all.
Polestar's in-car entertainment system integrates with Google Home, managed and maintained by GlobalLogic Sweden, the main development team responsible for this integration in Polestar 2 and Volvo Cars. This integration allows drivers to control various vehicle functions using a smart speaker, check car battery charge status, activate climate functions, and even control smart home devices.
Apple CarPlay is also supported, with Polestar 2 offering a wired connection and Polestar 4 offering a wireless connection. Polestar 3's wireless connection is set to be available soon.
The driver's display in Polestar models offers preconfigured modes for speed, battery status, navigation, and driver assistance information. Additionally, the head-up display displays speed, speed limit information, and turn-by-turn directions.
For music enthusiasts, the Polestar 3 features a Bowers & Wilkins audio system for enhanced sound quality, and Tidal offers hi-fidelity music within the Google Play store, which offers a variety of apps for Polestar's in-car entertainment system, including productivity apps, streaming services, and gaming apps.
Electric vehicle charging breaks can be utilised for more than just recharging the battery. They can be used for watching TV shows, listening to music, or catching up on podcasts and audiobooks, making the charging process more enjoyable.
Moreover, Google Assistant, available with a connected Polestar, can read emails aloud, reply to text messages, and remind drivers of important calendar entries, ensuring productivity even during breaks.
Lastly, all Polestar models have a head-up display option, further enhancing the driving experience by providing essential information directly within the driver's line of sight. The center display serves as the central command center for car and safety functions, settings, and entertainment offerings, making every Polestar a technological marvel on wheels.
