Cyber Trading Scam Yields Only Heavy Financial Losses Instead of Profits, According to Pol-BO Report
In the digital age, financial security has become more important than ever. A series of cyber trading fraud cases have been reported by the Bochum Police Headquarters, highlighting the need for caution and a critical mindset in the online world.
The fraudsters, employing increasingly sophisticated methods, are creating fake platforms that mimic real investment companies. These platforms promise high returns to gain the victims' trust. Unfortunately, after clicking a link, victims are often directed to these deceptive platforms.
The Bochum Police Headquarters has reported several cases of cyber trading fraud, resulting in a total financial loss of over 1.26 million euros. Among the victims are residents of Bochum and Witten, including a 71-year-old woman who lost 280,000 euros in July 2025, and an 82-year-old resident who lost 555,000 euros between January 2024 and September 2025. The identity of the latter victim remains unspecified in the Bochum Police reports.
Criminals often use personal or phone contact from supposed investment advisors to emotionally manipulate victims and steal their money. Victims are being invited to or added to fake investment chat groups on messaging services. Fake investment chat groups, often set up with international phone numbers, should be left immediately.
Cyber trading fraudsters also use professionally designed online ads, fake news articles, or messaging services to attract victims. In some cases, fear is used to pressure victims into paying fake fees or taxes demanded by the fraudsters.
