Cyberpunk 2077's macOS release date has been scheduled for July 17.

In a groundbreaking move for the gaming industry, the highly anticipated title, Cyberpunk 2077, is set to make its debut on macOS this July 17th, marking a significant step in shaking off the Mac's reputation as an afterthought in gaming.

The macOS version of Cyberpunk 2077 will be available on the Mac App Store and will support any Apple Silicon Mac with an M-series chip, from the M1 to the M4. To run the game smoothly, Apple users are advised to have at least 16GB of unified memory, with systems sporting 8GB potentially managing the base game at 30 FPS but not recommended, especially for the Phantom Liberty expansion.

Performance scales across different MacBooks and desktops, with higher-end Apple Silicon and larger RAM allowing better graphics and frame rates. For instance, a Mac with an M3 Pro chip and 18GB RAM can deliver 1080p at 60 FPS, while M2 Ultra or M3 Max with at least 36GB RAM can run at 1440p and 60 FPS.

The game's graphics have been tailored to each Apple Silicon model, and it utilizes Apple's native Metal graphics API. New "For this Mac" graphics presets have been optimized for each Apple Silicon Mac model, and the game also leverages Apple's MetalFX upscaling and AMD FSR frame generation technologies for enhanced performance and visuals. Future updates will bring features like Metal FX Frame Interpolation for up to 120 FPS on Ultra settings on supported models.

Cyberpunk 2077 on macOS offers a seamless gaming experience, with controls fully integrated with Magic Mouse, trackpad, and AirPods head-tracking. The game's system requirements specify a minimum storage of around 159 GB via the Mac App Store due to pre-installed language packs (smaller on other platforms).

In addition to the macOS release, Cyberpunk 2077 will also be accessible on Steam, Epic Games Store, and GOG. The game has already been added to the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog, making it free for Extra and Premium subscribers. The game is also available on the Nintendo Switch 2, and cross-progression support is available, allowing players to move between platforms.

More powerful machines running M3 Max or M4 chips support path tracing, AMD FSR, MetalFX upscaling, spatial audio, and HDR support for Apple's high-end displays in Cyberpunk 2077 on macOS, offering an immersive gaming experience for Apple users. This marks a new era for gaming on macOS, providing a robust and optimized experience for one of the most anticipated games of the year.
