Daimler Trucks incorporates eActros 600 vehicles into Charterway's rental fleet operation.
Starting June 2025, Daimler Truck's CharterWay brand will offer the Mercedes-Benz eActros 600 for rental in Germany. This next-generation electric heavy goods truck provides a sustainable and economical alternative for heavy goods transport.
The eActros 600 is one of the electric models offered by CharterWay, which also includes the eActros in the 300 and 400 versions, the eEconic, the eArocs 400, and the Fuso eCanter. The eActros 600 complements an existing fleet of around 6,000 CharterWay trucks.
Martin Kehnen, CEO of CharterWay, stated that the eActros 600 offers a sustainable and economical alternative for heavy goods transport. In addition to rental, the eActros 600 is integrated into CharterWay's "Truck-as-a-Service" model, offering customers a modular service package including charging infrastructure, consulting, maintenance, and digital services.
Key Features and Advantages of the eActros 600
- Battery and Range: The eActros 600 is equipped with three lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery packs totaling 621 kWh capacity, enabling a range of up to 500 kilometers without intermediate charging under realistic conditions with a gross combination mass of 40 tons.
- Electric Drive System: The truck uses a proprietary, liquid-cooled electric drive axle with two integrated electric motors delivering a continuous output of 330 kW and a peak of 400 kW.
- Energy Recuperation: It has an energy recuperation system that recovers electrical energy during braking and feeds it back into the batteries, increasing efficiency and range.
- Charging: The battery can be charged from 20% to 80% in about 1 hour via CCS at 400 kW charging power, and the eActros 600 is also prepared for future Megawatt Charging System (MCS) for charging capacities exceeding 1,000 kW.
- Payload and Gross Combination Mass: Designed for a gross combination mass of up to 44 tonnes, it can carry approximately 22 tonnes payload within EU regulations.
- Operational Suitability: The eActros 600 excels in high-mileage, long-haul operations, demonstrated in real-world testing scenarios such as dairy logistics with daily distances exceeding 1,000 km when charging during driver breaks is possible.
- Driving Dynamics and Safety: The low center of gravity improves cornering stability, adding to vehicle safety and driver confidence.
Contribution to Sustainable and Economical Heavy Goods Transport
- Zero Tailpipe Emissions: As a fully electric vehicle, the eActros 600 eliminates local emissions, contributing significantly to climate goals and cleaner air in urban and rural environments.
- Energy Efficiency: Electric drive with recuperation reduces energy waste compared to diesel trucks. Instant torque and efficient transmission improve driving performance while lowering operational costs.
- Reduced Noise: Electric motor operation is quieter than conventional engines, enhancing urban and residential area acceptability.
- Cost Savings Potential: Lower energy costs per kilometer and reduced maintenance (no diesel engine, fewer moving parts) improve total cost of ownership over time, supporting economically viable sustainable transport.
CharterWay’s inclusion of the eActros 600 in their rental offering provides customers with access to cutting-edge, zero-emission truck technology that supports both environmental targets and operational efficiency in heavy goods transport. Its capabilities make it suitable for demanding logistics scenarios where sustainability and economy are paramount.
The European market shows a growing interest in rental solutions and integrated transport solutions, as demonstrated by the continued growth in the rental solution market. The eActros 600's 500-kilometer range makes it suitable for long distances that were previously challenging with other electric models. The first customers received their eActros 600 vehicles in December 2024.
