Chopping Zombies and Rebooting Lightsabers: A Daisy Ridley Double Feature

Get ready for an action-packed double bill starring Daisy Ridley! The actress, best known for her iconic role as Rey in the Star Wars franchise, is swapping galaxies for a chilling zombie-filled adventure in the upcoming horror film, We Bury the Dead.

In this spine-tingling thriller, directed by Zak Hilditch, Daisy takes on the role of Ava Newman, a brave woman seeking answers following a horrific military experiment in Tasmania. With the grueling job of retrieving bodies, Ava is determined to uncover if her husband has met a grisly fate among the casualties. However, things take a terrifying turn when Ava discovers the reanimated corpses have turned into flesh-eating zombies!

Speaking to Deadline in October, director Hilditch shared his excitement about working with the talented Daisy: "Having Daisy play the role of Ava is an absolute dream come true. She embodies the perfect mix of vulnerability, grit, and determination that Ava exudes throughout the film."

While fans eagerly anticipate Daisy's return to the Star Wars universe, she remains busy with other projects. Most recently, she starred as Gertrude Ederle, the first woman to swim the English Channel, in Joachim Rønning's Young Woman and the Sea.

As the future of Star Wars remains uncertain, Daisy has expressed her eagerness to revisit her lightsaber-wielding days: "Why wouldn't I [do it]? Yes, [Star Wars movies] have been divisive, but also they bring a lot of love and joy to a lot of people," said Daisy to Empire earlier this year about her return to the Star Wars universe. "It feels pretty amazing to be able to continue a character like, can I even remember how to play her? It's an interesting challenge as an actor to come back to something and try to figure out what's changed for me and what's changed for her."

We Bury the Dead is set for a theatrical release on March 8, 2025. The film will make its debut at the Adelaide Film Festival.

Stay tuned for more updates on upcoming releases from Marvel, Star Wars, Star Trek, the DC Universe, and Doctor Who!
