BMW Motorrad Unveils Vision CE: A New Era of Urban Mobility

BMW Motorrad has unveiled the Vision CE, a futuristic electric scooter that promises to redefine urban mobility. This latest concept is a refinement of the CE series, which has seen success with the CE 04 and CE 02 electric scooters launched in the 2020s.

The Vision CE is a reinterpretation of the old C1 idea, taking the proven platform of the CE 04. The scooter features a metal tube safety cage and a specially designed seat and seat belt, creating a safety cell that eliminates the need for a helmet and heavy protective clothing. This safety feature, if implemented in production, might slightly reduce range and performance.

The aerodynamically covered roof of the Vision CE provides enhanced weather protection, making it an ideal choice for commuters. The self-balancing system keeps the scooter upright when stopped, offering practical benefits such as easier handling at stoplights, no need to put feet down, and added stability for beginners.

The Vision CE delivers a range of up to 130 kilometers, suitable for most daily commutes. It accelerates from 0-50 km/h in just 2.6 seconds, showcasing its impressive speed. The long and low proportions with a stretched wheelbase give the scooter a planted stance, adding to its stability and agility.

The cage of the Vision CE is open and airy, almost like an architectural frame. Its design, with its minimal color palette and avoidance of a "gadget-like" aesthetic, adds a touch of rawness and keeps the design grounded. This approachable style could attract a broader audience of commuters.

The C1, an urban scooter with a roof, safety cage, and seat belt, was introduced by BMW in the year 2000. Although it did not become a mass-market hit, it built a loyal following of riders who valued comfort and convenience. The combination of safety, practicality, and comfort in the Vision CE could follow in the C1's footsteps, attracting a similar audience.

BMW hasn't announced production plans for the Vision CE yet, but the company has a history of moving its CE concepts into showrooms. If produced, the Vision CE could revolutionize urban mobility, offering a safe, practical, and comfortable commuting solution for city dwellers.

The BMW Motorrad Vision CE is more than just a concept; it's a glimpse into the future of urban mobility. With its innovative design, impressive performance, and focus on safety and comfort, the Vision CE is poised to make a significant impact in the world of electric scooters.
