Dell has unveiled their latest top-tier laptops, the Premium models (previously known as XPS), accompanied by a tempting launch promotion for potential buyers seeking laptops for educational or professional purposes.

The Dell 16 Premium laptop, formerly known as the Dell XPS 16, has made a splash in the market with its premium design and impressive display.

This laptop boasts several pros that make it a standout choice. Its elegantly minimalist design, with a slim, solid chassis and a smooth hinge, appeals to both professional and casual users. The white material around the keyboard provides a soft, pleasant feel and effectively hides fingerprint smudges better than many other laptops.

The 16.3-inch 4K OLED touchscreen is another highlight, offering excellent visual quality with almost no bezel. With a peak brightness around 505 nits, it's strong for an OLED display. The laptop also includes three Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports conveniently placed, supporting easy connection or charging from either side.

However, the Dell 16 Premium's design choices have drawn some criticism. The capacitive buttons for function keys, editing cluster, and ESC above the keyboard, while stylish, lack tactile feedback and do not always reliably register input. This can be frustrating and tedious for users. The invisible touchpad, too, lacks physical or visual indicators, making it potentially confusing and requiring an adjustment period to use comfortably.

The laptop omits certain legacy ports like USB-A or HDMI on board, necessitating adapters, which some users might find inconvenient.

Despite these usability challenges, the Dell 16 Premium laptop impresses with its design elegance, premium materials, and an outstanding OLED display. Users who prioritize aesthetics and display quality may appreciate it, but those seeking traditional tactile feedback and clearer touchpad boundaries might find these design choices problematic.

The Dell 14 Premium laptop shares the same capacitive buttons above the keyboard and an invisible touchpad with its bigger sibling. While it has a smaller display and chassis, it maintains a similar design and layout. Its starting configuration includes a 14.5-inch 2K non-touch display, Intel Core Ultra 7 255H, Intel Arc Graphics, 16GB RAM, and 512GB SSD.

During Dell's launch sale, there are three configurations to choose from for the Dell 14 Premium laptop, each offering varying specifications. The highest configuration includes a 14.5-inch 3.2K OLED touchscreen, Intel Core Ultra 7 255H, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4050, 32GB RAM, and 1TB SSD.

The Dell 16 Premium laptop, now more affordable with a starting price of $1,549.99 at Dell, also offers three configurations to choose from, each with different GPU options, including an NVIDIA RTX-50 Series. Its display looks fantastic, according to reviews, making it a strong contender for those seeking a powerful laptop with a stunning display.
