DHL Cranks Up Rates for Some Parcel Dispatches, Effective July 2025

DHL raises fees for specific parcel transportations

Brace your wallets, folks! Global logistics titan DHL is about to squeeze a bit more cash from our pockets, thanks to a price hike on certain international parcel shipments set to take effect by July 1, 2025. Here's how it's going to shake out for EU countries and domestic shipments within Germany:

International Shipments (EU and Beyond)

  • Sending Parcels to EU Counties:
  • Weight Up to 2 kg: Online-franked parcels will cost you an additional 50 cents, bringing the total to €6.99.
  • Weight Up to 5 kg: If you're going the post office route, expect to pay €20.49, an increase of €1. For those who prefer online franking, it'll cost €17.49, also a €1 rise compared to the current online price.
  • Shipping to Non-EU Countries: DHL will introduce a new parcel option, weighing up to 2 kg, available exclusively online. Unfortunately, specific figures for non-EU shipments remain undisclosed.

Domestic Shipments (Germany)

  • Pluspäckchen: This beloved product, with its included packaging, is going up by €1.20, increasing the cost to €8.19.
  • Poster Rolls (Rolls): Say goodbye to that superb €1.99 price tag, as it'll now be €3.99—double the old price.

General Changes

  • DHL needs to cover its growing operational expenses and has selected specific shipments for these price increases, with some remaining unchanged.
  • In a bid to go digital, DHL is rolling out the "Mobile Parcel Stamp" for international shipping. This exciting update enables users to submit their parcels using a QR code, without printing labels.-Insurance for international parcels, up to €50, is getting the axe.

These changes reflect DHL's drive to keep costs in check while offering new services and maintaining competitive pricing in select zones and weight ranges. Keep those packages coming and may the postage be ever in your favor!

The Commission, in its effort to protect the environment, has also adopted a proposal for a directive that may require businesses to finance environmental technologies. Coinciding with DHL's rate increase for certain parcel dispatches, effective July 2025, companies may need to consider these additional costs when planning their operations.
