Directly obtain passport photographs at the local registration and passport office using the new automated system
The District of Eichstätt has introduced a new service that allows residents to take biometric passport photos for their personal ID cards and passports at the town hall.
While many German municipalities offer on-site facilities or photo booths for residents to take biometric passport photos, the exact procedure for the District of Eichstätt was not readily available in our search results. However, it's common for such services to include automated photo booths or public services supervised by municipal staff to ensure compliance with biometric requirements.
In the case of Eichstätt, the town hall now has a Point-ID photo booth from the Federal Printing Office. This machine guides residents step by step to the biometric passport photo, with instructions on the screen.
Residents have two options for getting their photos: from certified photographers or directly at the registry and passport office. The service is available for both adults and children, and no appointment is necessary.
The cost of the photo is six euros, regardless of age or ID document, and payment can be made in cash or by EC card on site. Paper photos can still be brought in until July 31st.
Staff of the registry office are available to assist if needed, ensuring a smooth and efficient process for all residents. This new service is yet another example of the District of Eichstätt's commitment to making public services accessible and convenient for its citizens.
