Disconnected from power supply for approximately four months
In the small town of Breloh, Erika and Andreas Battermann have been grappling with a persistent disruption to their fixed-line connection for nearly four months. Their neighbour, Ilse Spieker, is also affected by the same issue.
Erika Battermann has reached out to Telekom's trouble hotline 13 times, but to no avail. She has yet to receive any new information about the repairs. Despite having access to an app that allows her to track and return numbers, maintaining communication remains challenging.
The issue stems from a cable damage in an intersection area, shortly after a railway crossing, making the repairs particularly difficult. Telekom has promised updates to those affected, but so far, no new information has been forthcoming.
In response to the disruption, Telekom has provided Erika Battermann with a Quick Starter Set, including 60GB of data volume for both mobile calls and internet use. However, Erika has declined a call forwarding service offered by Telekom due to concerns about telemarketing calls.
Ilse Spieker, meanwhile, has resorted to using a simple mobile phone due to the disrupted fixed-line connection. She, too, has not received any new information about the repairs.
Telekom has confirmed that the necessary deep-laying works are extensive, involving many trades. Permission for a road closure and approval from Deutsche Bahn is required for the repairs, which are scheduled to begin in the coming week. The works are set to take place on September 25, 2025.
Erika Battermann is hopeful that the repairs will finally restore her fixed-line connection. She finds it frustrating that anyone who dials the old fixed-line number ends up on the answering machine. Despite being offered a voucher as compensation, Erika has declined it, as she only wants her fixed-line connection restored.
The residents of Breloh are eagerly awaiting the repairs and the restoration of their fixed-line connections. They hope that the inconvenience caused by the disruption will soon be a thing of the past.
