In a move to enrich the gaming experience for Nintendo Switch owners, the company has announced the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership. This membership offers access to a vast collection of classic games from Nintendo's past, including titles from the Game Boy Advance, Nintendo 64, SEGA Genesis, and Nintendo GameCube eras.
One of the standout features of this new membership is the Nintendo GameCube - Nintendo Classics, now available exclusively for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack members. This collection includes popular games like SOULCALIBUR II, offering one-on-one combat against other seekers of the demonic sword Soul Edge, and the fast-paced hovering action game F-Zero GX.
The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, where Link must sail across the Great Sea to rescue his sister Aryll, is one of the three classic games added to Nintendo GameCube - Nintendo Classics at launch. Additional titles, such as Chibi-Robo!, Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, Luigi's Mansion, Pokémon Colosseum, Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness, Super Mario Sunshine, Super Mario Strikers, and recently added Super Mario Strikers, are being gradually introduced to the service and are exclusive to Nintendo Switch 2 owners with the Expansion Pack subscription.
The service also offers quality-of-life enhancements like save states, rewind functionality, online and local multiplayer, CRT-style visual filters, and custom controller mapping for these GameCube classics.
Nintendo Switch Online membership, sold separately, and a Nintendo Account are required for online features. Internet access is also necessary for online play and GameChat features, which allow members to hang out with friends online. Terms and GameChat requirements apply for GameChat usage.
In addition to the GameCube library, the membership provides access to a library of Super NES, Game Boy, and NES games. Members can also enjoy voice chat in compatible Nintendo Switch games via a smartphone app and access to the Nintendo Music smart device app for a variety of video game music.
Moreover, access to the Nintendo Switch 2 upgrade packs for the Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and the Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom games is available with the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack membership.
