Dubai Customs Agrees on Collaboration with a German University for Enhancing Logistics Education and AI Adoption

In an endeavor to shape the logistics industry of tomorrow, Dubai Customs has forged a daring trilateral agreement with Dubai's University and Germany's esteemed Kühne Logistics University (KLU). This partnership aims to elevate education, hands-on training, and research in the spheres of logistics and artificial intelligence (AI).

The pact, manifested through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), was sealed at KLU's HQ in Hamburg by the formidable Dr. Abdulla Busenad, Director-General of Dubai Customs; Professor Washika Haak-Saheem, Dean of the Dubai Business School; and the astute Professor Andreas Kaplan, President of KLU.

The MoU charts the course for joint academic programs, invaluable training experiences, and research ventures concentrating on logistics services, supply chain management, and AI applications in customs operations. The agreement also bolsters the continuous evolution of the Dubai Logistics Academy and Dubai Customs' scholarships.

Under this initiative, students selected for scholarships have immersed themselves in intensive training programs at KLU. This journey encompasses rigorous academic courses, hands-on training, and visits to forward-thinking German companies and the Port of Hamburg – a hub for advanced logistics technologies and AI-driven systems.

Sultan Ahmed bin Sulayem, the CEO of the Ports, Customs, and Free Zone Corporation, hailed this partnership as a strategic move towards crafting a workforce equipped for the AI-driven future and the seamless integration of AI into public services.

Dr. Busenad enthusiastically stated that this collaboration aligns with Dubai's vision of becoming a leading global logistics hub, while advancing the ambitious national vision, "We the UAE 2031."

The President of the University of Dubai, Dr. Issa Al Bastaki, and KLU President Professor Kaplan, both pledged their undying commitment to producing impactful programs that foster innovation and prepare students to meet the shifting demands of the global economy.
