EA's upcoming Battlefield 6 is gearing up for an impressive Battle Royale mode, deemed the publisher's most ambitious to date.
Battlefield 6, the highly anticipated instalment in the popular first-person shooter series, is set to make a splash with its unique blend of traditional Battlefield gameplay and a new Battle Royale mode. Developed by DICE, in collaboration with Ripple Effect, the game is set to launch in October 2025.
One of the most notable features of Battlefield 6 is the return of the class system, allowing players to mix and match classes to create a balanced squad. The game offers four classes: Assault, Engineer, Support, and Recon, each with unique roles and gadgets. Each class begins with two gadgets, providing players with a solid foundation to build their characters.
The Battle Royale mode in Battlefield 6 promises to be different from its competitors. It will feature 100 players split into 25 squads of four. The map, designed for destruction, will change between matches, offering a fresh experience each time. In this mode, players will need to eliminate opponents or complete missions to earn XP, contributing to both personal and squad levels.
The loot system in Battlefield 6's Battle Royale mode includes five weapon tiers, attachments, throwables, gadgets, and strike packages. However, details about the loot system are currently under NDA, with Battlefield Labs currently testing the mode.
To keep matches from dragging, the Battle Royale mode is designed to push players into fights faster. Touching the shrinking zone instantly eliminates players, ensuring that the action remains intense and exciting. The game also features a second chance system, with the Support class able to revive teammates and a redeploy feature for players after elimination or being caught in the zone.
There is hope that Battlefield 6's Battle Royale mode will avoid the fate of Battlefield V and Battlefield 2042, whose Battle Royale attempts were poorly received and quickly abandoned. The developers have been careful to learn from these past mistakes and create a mode that is engaging, fun, and appealing to a wide audience.
Battlefield 6's beta attracted thousands of players who queued in menus before matches, indicating a strong interest in the game. However, there are no official details yet about whether Battlefield 6's Battle Royale mode will be bundled with the main game or released as a free-to-play standalone.
In addition to the Battle Royale mode, Battlefield 6 also features vehicles, ranging from fast transport options to heavily armored powerhouses. The game has already broken 500,000 concurrent players on Steam alone, demonstrating its appeal to fans of the series.
With its unique approach to Battle Royale, the return of the class system, and the promise of intense, action-packed gameplay, Battlefield 6 is shaping up to be an exciting addition to the series. The Battle Royale mode is expected to launch in October 2025, so keep an eye out for more details in the coming months.
