Ecommerce Boosts Product Visibility with Generative AI

Ecommerce businesses are leveraging generative AI (genAI) to enhance product visibility and customer experience. Louis Camassa, director of product at Rithum, shares insights on optimizing genAI for ecommerce, highlighting key strategies like regular data updates and structured product information.

Camassa suggests merchants evaluate their genAI visibility by searching for their brand names on platforms like ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Gemini. To improve relevance, he advises using custom fields and localizing content.

For better product representation, write clear, concise titles and descriptions in natural language. Include key details like dimensions, color options, materials, and intended applications in product information feeds. Regularly update these feeds, at least daily, to ensure real-time data.

Structured attributes and optimized images also boost visibility. Currently, companies can transmit product data directly to genAI platforms primarily through Google Business Profile, serving as a reliable source for accurate product information. Google's Gemini AI now allows direct file uploads, indicating enhanced data input capabilities.

To optimize generative AI for ecommerce, merchants should focus on clean, consistent, and up-to-date product data. Regular updates, structured information, and transparent pricing ensure real-time, relevant product representation on AI platforms. Evaluating genAI visibility and leveraging tools like Google Business Profile can significantly improve ecommerce presence.
