Electric Vehicle Sharing in Bremen-Blumenthal Powered by Local Energy
In the heart of Blumenthal, a significant stride towards a greener future has been taken. A partnership between local companies Cambio and Kroger Bau is revolutionising car-sharing services, integrating locally produced electricity into the mix.
- Locally Produced Electricity for Car-Sharing
Kroger Bau, a local company presumed to be involved in renewable energy or construction including energy infrastructure, is supplying the electric cars at the Blumenthal car-sharing station with locally generated electricity. This shift from fossil fuels reduces the carbon footprint of the car-sharing fleet and supports Blumenthal's commitment to sustainability.
- Sustainable Car-Sharing Model
Cambio, a car-sharing provider, offers an alternative to private car ownership by encouraging shared usage of vehicles. With the integration of renewable energy, this model provides environmentally friendly mobility options for Blumenthal residents.
- Advancing the Mobility Transition
By supplying electric vehicles charged with clean, locally generated energy, the partnership is fostering a shift from conventional, polluting transportation to sustainable, electric mobility. This move aligns with Blumenthal's goals for a greener transport infrastructure.
- Local Economic and Environmental Benefits
Using local electricity production strengthens the local economy by creating demand for regional renewable energy. It also reduces transmission losses and environmental impacts associated with importing energy from distant sources.
In essence, the Cambio-Kroger Bau partnership in Blumenthal combines clean energy and shared electric mobility, making car-sharing an eco-friendly, locally powered alternative that advances the transition to sustainable transport.
Notably, Cambio has replaced a gasoline car at the Blumenthal car-sharing station with an electric car (Renault ZOE). Since the beginning of 2022, Cambio has also been offering electric cars at its "Lesum Park" station.
Both Lasse Schulz, Cambio Bremen's managing director, and Jan-Hendrik Kroger, managing director of Kroger Bau, have expressed satisfaction with the partnership and praised it as a great contribution to the mobility transition. They continue to work together, with Cambio continually working to further electrify its fleet, and Kroger Bau's photovoltaic system on the roof of the Sparkasse's new building continuing to feed excess electricity into the charging station on the courtyard of the car-sharing station.
