Embraer Announces Starlink Wi-Fi for Praetor and Legacy Jets

Embraer, a leading manufacturer of business jets, has announced that operators of Praetor and Legacy jets will soon be able to equip their aircraft with Starlink Wi-Fi directly through the manufacturer. This development is part of Embraer's commitment to providing seamless, connected flight experiences worldwide.

The Praetor 600 and Legacy 500 are expected to be certified for Starlink installation in the third quarter of 2025, following the successful FAA certification of the Praetor 500 and Legacy 450 earlier this year. Brazil's ANAC (National Civil Aviation Agency) certification is projected for Q4 2025, while European EASA certification is expected by Q1 2026.

Starlink, a satellite internet service provided by SpaceX, offers high-speed internet even in remote areas or over oceans. The addition of Starlink to the Praetor and Legacy jets ensures a seamless connectivity experience for passengers, enabling services like 4K video calls, online gaming, and VPN access.

Marsha Woelber, VP of Customer Support and Aftermarket Sales for Executive Jets at Embraer, expressed excitement about bringing Starlink's high-speed internet to their customers. Jay Heublein, President of Technical Services at Flexjet, stated that Starlink has over a year of operational experience and hundreds of kits sold to the business aviation fleet.

Embraer will support installations globally through its Owned Service Center Network using the Nextant STC. A related STC for the Embraer Phenom 300 jets is being developed and expected by late Q4 2025.

Charter carrier JSX outfitted its entire fleet of 40 Embraer regional jets with Starlink in 2023, providing a glimpse into the future of connected flight experiences. United Airlines received approval to install Starlink Wi-Fi on its Embraer 175 regional aircraft earlier this year, but faced issues leading to a temporary suspension of the deployment on United Express E175 jets.

The Praetor, one of the most technologically advanced business jets in its category, is set to benefit significantly from the addition of Starlink Wi-Fi. This move strengthens Embraer's position in the business aviation market, offering a high-speed, low-latency Wi-Fi solution through a Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) developed in partnership with Nextant Aerospace and Flexjet.
