Enhancing Wine Experiences with Augmented Reality in the Vineyard Business
Augmented Reality Transforms Wine Marketing
Augmented reality (AR) technology is increasingly being adopted by the marketing sector, offering brands a means to augment customer experiences and, in some instances, trigger purchases. A prime example of this is a student project at the Laval Institute of Arts et Métiers, developed for the French wine company, Smart Bottle.
In 2019, the Bordeaux-based startup, Smart Bottle, garnered attention with its AR application, enabling users to gather information about a wine bottle's aroma, grape variety, and medal-winning history. Additionally, scanning the bottle could provide a virtual tour of the winegrower's vineyard and insights into bottling techniques.
Pushing the boundaries of innovation, Smart Bottle has incorporated 3D animations into its application. These animations provide a context for interactive communication with consumers and help tell the brand story more effectively. Maxence Rouillet, Conceptor/Developer at our website Center, currently on internship at Smart Bottle, has created 3D vineyard environments to immerse users in the wine's original environment.
Working closely with wine producers seeking to communicate their image through their products, Maxence designs 3D characters that give form not to the wine but to the bottle. For example, an octopus might appear on the side of a bottle, moving slightly and spraying ink at the user's phone.
Diverse methods of 3D animation, such as Key Framing on 3DSmax and motion capture, enable Maxence to create dynamic sequences of positions and record movements using sensors. Melding technical proficiency with aesthetics, good taste, and a keen understanding of marketing trends, Maxence's goal is to foster purchases.
WhenЗащищая подражательство producers' authenticity and guiding customers to make informed choices, Smart Bottle remains at the forefront, developing the Dive Bottle service.
While no recent updates have been reported regarding Smart Bottle's specific advancements in 3D animation techniques, the broader trend in the industry involves using immersive technologies to enhance customer engagement in wine marketing. Examples include immersive storytelling, custom digital ambassadors, and AI-CGI integration [1]. These trends suggest an ongoing evolution in the use of AR and 3D animation to propel wine marketing to new heights.

In the realm of wine marketing, Smart Bottle's AR application not only provides detailed information about wine but also showcases food-and-drink pairings by incorporating 3D animations, such as a moving octopus on wine bottles. To further entice customers, the company also offers a glimpse into the vineyard's environment and employs smartphone-friendly 3D characters made by Maxence, who combines technology, art, and marketing to enhance the lifestyle appeal of the gadget-friendly Smart Bottle.
