Essen's Schools Get €83.4M Modernization Boost with 75,000 iPads and WiFi-6
Essen's schools have undergone a complete modernization, with a total investment of around 83.4 million euros. The city portal has successfully completed the DigitalPakt Schule funding program, equipping all classrooms and specialized rooms with modern IT infrastructure.
The project saw the installation of around 75,000 iPads for students and teachers, along with approximately 4,000 interactive displays to enhance learning. High-performance networking was ensured through the implementation of Cat 7A+ network technology, over 6,100 access points, and more than 730 network switches. A complete WiFi-6 standard wireless network was also installed for stable connectivity.
The Essen System House (ESH) played a crucial role in the project's success, overseeing the professional implementation of the network structure. Meanwhile, the Alfried Krupp School Media Center (AKSMZ) led the conception, planning, and management of the project, ensuring all DigitalPakt Schule projects were completed on time, within funding regulations, and within budget.
The modernization of Essen's schools has provided students and teachers with state-of-the-art IT infrastructure, enabling interactive learning and high-speed connectivity. The successful completion of the DigitalPakt Schule program reflects the city's commitment to digital education and the effective collaboration of various stakeholders.
