Starting September 1, 2025, East Westphalia will be more connected than ever with the reconnection of Paderborn/Lippstadt Airport to the Munich hub. This initiative by skyhub PAD, a group founded by entrepreneurs and private individuals in March 2025, aims to strengthen air traffic in Paderborn and secure the essential connection to Munich for the regional economy.

From September, flights between Paderborn and Munich will operate daily, with departures at 7:00 AM, 1:55 PM, and 6:30 PM from Paderborn, and returns at 9:00 AM, 4:10 PM, and 8:35 PM from Munich. The airline cooperating with skyhub PAD to operate the route is the Danish airline Danish Air Transport (DAT), which conducts the flights using modern ATR72-600 aircraft. These aircraft can accommodate 70 passengers, ensuring a comfortable journey for all.

The flight times have been coordinated with international connecting flights, making many destinations in Europe, Asia, and North America easily accessible. Early booking for these flights is recommended due to expected high demand. Ticket prices start at 149 euros per leg, including all taxes and fees.

The interlining agreement with Lufthansa for flights with baggage check-in through Munich is expected to be finalized by June 2025. This means that once the agreement is in place, the flights between Paderborn and Munich will be bookable with connecting flights worldwide.

Christoph Plass, chairman of the supervisory board of skyhub PAD and vice-president of the IHK Ostwestfalen, emphasizes the uniqueness of the project. There is no comparable model for the project in Germany, requiring the creation of many structures from scratch.

Dominik Lelle, a member of the online editorial team of AERO INTERNATIONAL since 2023, shares his enthusiasm for aviation and enjoys making the world of aviation tangible and exciting for readers. As a passionate traveler who enjoys discovering new horizons, both literally and figuratively, he looks forward to the increased connectivity that the reconnection will bring.

Business travelers and private individuals will benefit from up to three daily flights between Paderborn and Munich, making it easier than ever to travel between the two cities. With the reconnection, the possibilities for travel from Paderborn are vastly expanded, opening up a world of opportunities for those in East Westphalia.
