Ethereum Foundation reorganizes its leadership to boost concentration
Going Forward with a Brand-New Ethereum Leadership
Just dropped! The Ethereum Foundation has shaken things up with a revamped leadership structure, designed to more clearly separate the roles of management and the board. This reorg was announced in a blog post on Apr. 28. Stepping up as co-executive directors are Hsiao-Wei Wang and Tomasz K. Stanączak. Working alongside them are fresh faces Bastian Aue and Josh Stark, who jump on board with a focus on strategic organization, global strategy, and project execution.
The day-to-day operations and strategic execution will be handled by the management team, while the board will be in charge of setting the long-term vision, ensuring compliance with regulations, and serving as a sort of 'security council' to preserve Ethereum’s core values. Committed to maintaining decentralization, the foundation assures the community that the board won't usurp power and act as a centralized authority.
Board members include Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin offering technical and intellectual expertise, Aya Miyaguchi, the Foundation's president guiding the long-term visions and managing key external relationships, Swiss lawyer Patrick Storchenegger ensuring adherence to Swiss laws, and Hsiao-Wei Wang, who acts as a liaison between board decisions and daily operations.
In regards to the upcoming changes, Wang and Stanączak stress their primary focus for the upcoming year: scaling Ethereum's layer-1, refining connections between layer-1 and layer-2 networks, and streamlining network user experience. Furthermore, they confirm their dedication to upholding censorship resistance, championing open-source development, advocating for privacy, and maintaining a high level of security.
Not only that, the new leadership shakeup comes as a response to demands from some members of the Ethereum community, seeking a bigger role for the foundation – particularly in decentralized finance. And worry not, the Ethereum Foundation remains committed to serving as a steward of the Ethereum ecosystem, fostering growth with a decentralized approach at its core.
Stanączak will serve a two-year term while continuing his work with Nethermind and launching an Ethereum-focused venture fund. Time to buckle up and ride the Ethereum 2.0 wave as it transitions into the future!
