European partnership formed between Ascend and GEM for battery recycling operations
In a significant move towards sustainable energy solutions, Chinese recycling pioneer GEM Group and American battery material manufacturer Ascend Elements have joined forces to explore battery recycling and material collaboration in Europe.
Based in Shenzhen, China, GEM was founded in 2001 and has been a leading player in China's circular economy and waste recycling sector. On the other hand, Ascend Elements, established in the United States in 2015, specialises in the manufacturing of battery materials.
Ascend Elements focuses on producing lithium carbonate and cathode precursor materials, with a unique twist - they manufacture these materials from recycled sources. This eco-friendly approach aligns perfectly with GEM's mission to promote sustainable waste management practices.
The two companies have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to collaborate on various projects, with one of the key initiatives being the establishment of a regional battery recycling network in Europe. However, as of now, there is no available information on the planned date for this network's founding.
Besides battery recycling, both GEM and Ascend Elements are active in the fields of hard metals and new energy technologies. This collaboration is expected to bring about innovative solutions in these areas, further cementing their positions as leaders in the global recycling and renewable energy industries.
As the world continues to grapple with the challenges of sustainable energy and waste management, partnerships like this one between GEM and Ascend Elements offer a glimmer of hope for a greener future. The joint efforts of these two companies could pave the way for more efficient battery recycling processes and the production of eco-friendly battery materials on a larger scale.
Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting collaboration and the progress of the regional battery recycling network in Europe.
