Expansion Funding of $5.2M for Octane to Extend Reach of Payment Solutions for Fleets Across Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Region

Cairo-based fintech startup, Octane, has raised $5.2 million in a recent funding round, led by Shorooq Partners, Algebra Ventures, and Elsewedy Capital Holding. This investment will support Octane's expansion plans across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, aiming to modernise fleet expense management and address infrastructure challenges in logistics-heavy sectors.

**Expansion Plans**

Octane's sights are set on growing its regional footprint, particularly targeting Gulf and North African countries where fragmented payment infrastructures and rising transportation costs pose significant challenges for logistics and delivery companies. The company plans to broaden its acceptance network, currently covering over 2,400 petrol stations and 400 Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) outlets in Egypt, to serve more operators and locations regionally.

**Innovative Features**

Octane offers a unique, closed-loop digital wallet that consolidates all fleet-related expenses, including fuel (diesel, gasoline, CNG), maintenance, spare parts, and petty cash. The platform's real-time controls and analytics provide fleet operators with clear visibility into expenses, helping to significantly reduce avoidable fuel and mileage costs.

In addition, Octane is expanding its AI-powered capabilities, such as fraud detection and route optimization, to enhance security and efficiency for fleet operators. Recognising the shift towards cleaner energy, Octane is also piloting EV-charging payments, accommodating evolving energy needs without adding complexity for customers.

**Strategic Positioning**

With rising logistics costs and a need for smarter expense management tools in MENA, Octane is positioning itself as a key player in modernising fleet expense management by providing a comprehensive, tech-enabled solution tailored to regional challenges. The startup aims to solve core infrastructure gaps in fleet operations by building financial technology rails that facilitate efficient B2B transactions in logistics-heavy sectors across MENA.

With solid investor support, a growing user base, and rising demand for digital fleet solutions, Octane is well-positioned to lead the charge in transforming fleet payment systems regionally. The startup now employs 200 staff and recently earned an EEA Award for Rising Entrepreneurs of the Year.
