Exploration of Progress: innovation.rocks in the Production Sector's Advancement

Carl Zeiss and innovation.rocks embarked on an innovative journey to revolutionize product presentations, utilizing Augmented Reality (AR). As an exhibitor at VRDays Europe 2020, innovation.rocks sought to address the challenges of product promotion, customer engagement, and supporting informed decisions.

To upgrade the traditional print calendar into an interactive and helpful tool, innovation.rocks merged the physical and digital realms by creating the ZEISS Diary webAR application. This web-based app interacts with the print calendar, extending numerous pages with virtual content. QR codes guide users to multimedia extensions, accessible via their smartphones or tablets due to webAR technology provided by 8th Wall.

The star attraction of the webAR experience is an animated 3D Avatar, modelled after Carl Zeiss' brand ambassador "Jay." This engaging character introduces the app and provides insights into metrology in three languages, ensuring global accessibility for all Zeiss employees. The Avatar's role includes announcing highlights, events, and product releases planned for the year, such as the ZEISS AR Metrology app.

The ZEISS AR Metrology app was the next exciting development in the collaboration. Designed as a native AR app, it allows users to experience the measuring equipment interactively by positioning virtual devices within their real-world environments. The app's special features offer additional information and provide insights into the technical features of the products, admirably setting the stage for future updates.

This unique collaboration was also part of Zeiss' "Innovation Rocks" campaign, showcasing the company's products, upcoming innovations, and highlights in the form of four extensive videos. As the journey continues, innovation.rocks and Carl Zeiss anticipate what new challenges and groundbreaking innovations 2021 may bring.

Founded in 2005, innovation.rocks is a celebrated XR agency known for its symbolic name and expertise in AR and Virtual Reality content development. The agency has created a diverse portfolio of projects for international companies, including Porsche, Konica Minolta, Bentley, and Audi. By serving as a consultant and tech-enabler in emerging technologies, innovation.rocks strives to boost brand awareness, customer engagement, and business growth for its clients.

Technology played a crucial role in the collaborative effort between Carl Zeiss and innovation.rocks, as they utilized Augmented Reality (AR) technology to revolutionize product presentations. The ZEISS Diary webAR application, a result of this collaboration, merged the physical and digital realms, offering users an interactive, QR code-guided experience with multimedia extensions accessible via smartphones or tablets.

The ZEISS AR Metrology app, another product of this partnership, was designed as a native AR app, allowing users to interactively position virtual measuring equipment within their real-world environments. This app showcases the potential of technology to set the stage for future updates and advancements.
