Fara Introduces the Versatile Gr4 Gravel Bike

The Norwegian bike manufacturer Fara has unveiled its latest offering, the Gr4 gravel bike. This all-terrain machine is designed for racing, exploration, and everyday riding, boasting a lightweight and aerodynamic carbon frame, ample tyre clearance, and an innovative modular cockpit.

Key Features and Specifications

Frame and Materials

The Gr4 features a high-modulus Torayca T1000 and M40X carbon fibre frame and fork, with the medium frame weighing approximately 970g. The frameset is UDH-compatible and includes an integrated in-frame storage system in the downtube for tool-free storage. It also sports threaded T47 bottom bracket, full range of cargo and hidden fender mounts, and a fork length of 405mm with an offset of 55mm.

Geometry and Design

The Gr4 offers a wheelbase of 1,037mm for high-speed stability, a head angle of 71.2 degrees (steeper than competitors), a reach of 395mm, a stack of 570mm, and a bottom bracket drop of 80mm. Four frame sizes are available: 49cm (small), 53cm (medium), 56cm (large), and 59cm (XL). The seat tube angle varies depending on the size, ranging from 74 to 75 degrees. The design aims to balance racing responsiveness and comfort for long rides.

Tyre Clearance

The Gr4 can accommodate very wide tyres up to 57mm (2.2 inches), allowing for high-volume tyres for improved traction and speed on rough terrain.

Cockpit

The Gr4's cockpit features a modular integrated design, inspired by race bike designs. Handlebar widths range from 360-440mm, and stem lengths can be adjusted between 80-130mm, ensuring comfort over long distances and rough terrain.

Weights and Savings

Compared to the previous generation, the Gr4 frame is over 200g lighter, and the system weight (frame, fork, seatpost, cockpit) is nearly half a kilo lighter overall.

Intended Use

The Gr4 is a "Goldilocks" bike, designed to excel in gravel racing, ultra-racing, exploration, and everyday riding without forcing a choice between racing and adventure setups.

Pricing Details

Pricing details for the Fara Gr4 were not explicitly provided in the sources. Given its high-end carbon gravel bike status with advanced features, pricing would likely be competitive with similar gravel bikes in the performance segment.

This comprehensive design reflects Fara’s racing heritage and focus on creating a bike that is both race-capable and adventure-ready, bridging the gap between racing and all-day comfort. The Gr4 will be available in four colours: Translucent black, Shade, Strand, and Sunrise fade.
