Fast-food chain Subway joins the trend of plant-based alternatives, introducing a Beyond Meat meatball sub.
In a move that's sure to excite plant-based food enthusiasts, Subway has introduced the Beyond Meatball Marinara Sub at 685 locations across the USA and Canada. The innovative sandwich features plant-based meatballs, a creation of Beyond Meat, Inc., a leading company in the production of plant-based meat alternatives.
Founded by Ethan Brown, Beyond Meat is the supplier of the plant-based meatballs used in the sandwich. Brown recently discussed the company's partnership with restaurant chains in an interview with Business Insider.
Subway isn't the only one jumping on the plant-based bandwagon. Nestlé, a major player in the food industry, is launching a new plant-based burger to compete with Beyond Meat and Impossible Foods.
Meanwhile, Subway has also been making strides in other areas. They recently launched Halo Top milkshakes and rolled out King's Hawaiian bread at their locations, offering customers more delicious plant options to choose from.
