Flexis Kicks Off Electric Van Production in France from 2026

Flexis, a new electric van manufacturer, has announced its plans to commence production in France from 2026. The company will operate on a new fully electric LCV skateboard platform at Renault's Sandouville plant. Krishnan Sundararajan, former MD of Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi, has been appointed COO, while Philippe Divry, ex-Volvo Group executive, takes the helm as CEO.

Flexis aims to recruit 550 employees over the next four years to support its ambitious growth plans. The company expects the European market for electrified vans to grow at a staggering 40% per year until 2030. CMA CGM, a global shipping giant, is backing this venture, investing €120 million through its Pulse investment fund. The company is also collaborating with Maersk to decarbonise ocean transport.

Verkor, a French battery maker, will supply the batteries for Flexis' electric vans. This follows a supply deal signed with Renault in 2023. The three partners signed a non-binding agreement in October 2023, which has now received regulatory approval.

Flexis, with its strategic partnerships and experienced leadership, is poised to make a significant impact in the growing electric van market. Production is set to begin in 2026, with CMA CGM's substantial investment and Verkor's battery supply ensuring a strong foundation for the company's success.
